Wednesday 5/6/09

Today Ethan is 5 weeks and he rolled over from his tummy to back today.
Cassandra has been on "punishment" for a few days. She has to take JR out and push him in his car and play with him. He loves to be outside with the kids but since he cant walk he doesn't get to go out that much. It is good for Cassandra to take him out.
I think we need to move into a safer neighborhood. I say this because tonight about 1130pm I was in bed trying to get Ethan to sleep and I hear the police siren and see the lights through the window. So of course I get up to look out and the police have this SUV that lives across the way pulled over and the police are out of the car with their guns drawn yelling at the people that are sitting outside to get out of the way. Well I didn't stick around to see what happened, I went to the living room and told John they had their guns drawn and he went and looked out the window. He kept saying "they're going to hit our car". I guess the guys in the SUV were backing up and the police were telling them to put it in park and come out slowly with their hands up. The guys in the SUV took off and I am not sure if they caught them but they kept coming back looking around. Well they should know they cant come back. They are always outside blasting their car radio at all times and everyday they go to pick up their kids from school and they always have a beer in their hand. Maybe this will get them out.

Today I kept Cassandra home from school because I had a WIC appointment and had to take both Ethan and JR. She is very good at keeping JR busy. He didn't like getting his finger poked but he didn't cry too much. Both of our blood was good so neither one is anemic. At least now I don't have to go back till June. I am glad to be able to get the formula, it really helps.

Wednesday 4/15/09

I went to school to take my final. I got a 100. It is easy when she gives the exact questions and answers to the test. I also signed my papers for my 60 day leave. I am glad to be able to start it. I think I will get bored before the 60 days though.
I went to see my ob today too just to check the incision. It is healing nicely except for one little piece that doesn't seem to be closing right. He says he will check it again in 4 weeks. It only hurts a little.

Tuesday 4/14/09

Went to school for about an hour today just to get the notes for the final tomorrow. John was at home with Ethan.
Took Ethan to the doctor today. He is gaining weight. He now weighs 61/2 pounds and is 18 3/4 inches. I am glad to know he is gaining weight since he was so little to begin with. The doctor says he is doing good and he will see us when he is 2 months.
I also went to the diabetes doctor today. She says my sugar levels are right on the border so it is pre-diabetes. I shouldn't have to take my insulin and she says I shouldn't have to watch what I eat. I will stick to the diet Dr. Pepper though, I kind of like it. I don't even have to check my blood anymore but I will every now and then just to see how it is. She wants to see me back in 4 weeks just to do a blood glucose tolerance test. I know I want to keep it in check because I know my mother's mom had diabetes and didn't keep it in check and she had kidney problems and then a stroke because it went unchecked. I don't know about my mom but I know it can skip a generation.

Monday 4/13/09

Today we had a meeting with a social worker with a program through JR's daycare called Fundamental Foundations. They help families with disabled children. They work with an apartment management company and the management company moves you in to one of their apartment complexes and they pay 75% of the rent. It is to help you live in a better neighborhood and be able to save money so maybe you can have a down payment for a house. It is only for 6 months, could be up to a year. It would help us so that I can continue my education and we can live off of one income. I hope we get approved. That would be great. I do hate moving though, that would be a pain.

Friday 4/10/09

I went to school and took my certification test today. didn't know how good I was going to do because I haven't had time to study but I got a 96 so that is very good. Now I just have to do my externship.
I left John with the baby. I know he can handle it.
He said he had to change a diaper and Ethan was awake the whole time.
Cassandra got to go to her dad's because John is off for the week.
We had to take JR to get his second newborn blood screening. He slept through the heel poke. It is just really hot in the van because our air conditioner went out. I will be glad to get it fixed.

Wednesday 4/8/09

Went to get my staples out today. I was suppose to do it yesterday but JR had his other appointment. The nurse took them out and says the incision looks good. I am glad. I hear alot of stories of them getting infected or tearing open and I sure don't want that to happen.
We took Ethan to drop JR off at day care, his first outing. Everyone says Ethan is so small. I have a picture of him in his car seat and you can tell really how little he is.
Ethan is one week old today and JR will be two in less than 4 weeks.
It was sure good to have John home today. He does help with the housework and laundry. He is not much into changing Ethan's diapers right now because the umbilical cord stump hasn't fallen off yet.
