Monday 4/13/09

Today we had a meeting with a social worker with a program through JR's daycare called Fundamental Foundations. They help families with disabled children. They work with an apartment management company and the management company moves you in to one of their apartment complexes and they pay 75% of the rent. It is to help you live in a better neighborhood and be able to save money so maybe you can have a down payment for a house. It is only for 6 months, could be up to a year. It would help us so that I can continue my education and we can live off of one income. I hope we get approved. That would be great. I do hate moving though, that would be a pain.

Friday 4/10/09

I went to school and took my certification test today. didn't know how good I was going to do because I haven't had time to study but I got a 96 so that is very good. Now I just have to do my externship.
I left John with the baby. I know he can handle it.
He said he had to change a diaper and Ethan was awake the whole time.
Cassandra got to go to her dad's because John is off for the week.
We had to take JR to get his second newborn blood screening. He slept through the heel poke. It is just really hot in the van because our air conditioner went out. I will be glad to get it fixed.

Wednesday 4/8/09

Went to get my staples out today. I was suppose to do it yesterday but JR had his other appointment. The nurse took them out and says the incision looks good. I am glad. I hear alot of stories of them getting infected or tearing open and I sure don't want that to happen.
We took Ethan to drop JR off at day care, his first outing. Everyone says Ethan is so small. I have a picture of him in his car seat and you can tell really how little he is.
Ethan is one week old today and JR will be two in less than 4 weeks.
It was sure good to have John home today. He does help with the housework and laundry. He is not much into changing Ethan's diapers right now because the umbilical cord stump hasn't fallen off yet.

Tuesday 4/7/09

Today was John's last day before his vacation. It was easy the last two days with John at work because he only works in the morning and JR is a school.
Today John had to take JR to Dr. Stanley, who is the orthopedist, for him to look at his feet. He said he is very pleased with JR's feet. They are coming only really well. He is glad he is able to stand up and walk with his walker. Speaking of walkers the therapist is suppose to have someone come out to the house and make JR a walker, the one that has a seat that he can turn around and sit on. I hope he likes it and uses it. So Dr. Stanley just gave him a prescription for bigger braces because he is outgrowing the ones he has. He is also moving to the teaching hospital and says we can follow him if we like. It is funny because he says he use to eat at the place where John works back when it was opened 13 years ago. It is a small world.

Sunday 4/5/09

Today was a little easier because John was off today. He was doing alot of running around today so he wasn't home much but he took JR with him so that helped. He had to go buy things we needed and wash clothes.
We didn't do much today.

Saturday 4/4/09

Today was a very rough day.
Cassandra did make me and JR eggs for breakfast. They were a little burnt but I would never tell her that, they were perfect. She was very helpful with JR. She made him breakfast, lunch and dinner since John had to work all day. I am just so tired and hurting from the c-section. When I had my other two c-sections it wasn't as hard because the babies were still at the hospital while I was recovering so it was alot easier. John does wake up when I wake up to feed him or change him. He will get up and warm up the bottles. He may not stay up, though. It seems like every time I change him he pees and his clothes get wet. I don't know what to do, I am already using preemie diapers. I will just have to wait until he gains a little weight and fits in the diapers better. I did finally buy a few clothes from ebay but they are a little big so John had to go out and buy a few preemie outfits and he will have to wash clothes alot. I wish we had a washer and dryer. I finally let Cassandra go out about an hour before John got off, she did a great job today.

Friday 4/3/09

I was going to try and only breastfeed but last night Ethan wasn't having it. It was too hungry and I couldn't give him enough. I decided since he is so small he needs all the food he wants so I let the ladies in the nursery give him formula and keep him all night so I could sleep. I figured it was going to be my last good night of sleep for awhile. They said he did really good.
The pediatrician came and released the baby to go home. He weighs 4lb 7oz. But he eats good. My OB came and released me too. No lifting anything heavier than the baby for 6 weeks. That is easier said then done with JR at the house. Cassandra is not going to her dad's for the weekend so she can help me with the two kids. I am glad she is older and can help.
John switched and worked this morning instead of night so he could be home and put JR to sleep. The hospital gave us steak dinners for two for having the baby. Steak, baked potato, bread, it was good. And I got to eat chocolate cake, yeah.
We got home about 4pm. Cassandra is happy with her new little brother. JR doesn't care either way. I think he will when Ethan gets old enough to play a little.
All I want to do is be in bed and sleep. Luckily that is all Ethan wants to do to.

Thursday 4/2/09

Of course I didn't get much sleep last night. Ethan always wants to eat. I did get to eat regular food today. The food at the hospital isn't even that bad. John brought me spicy cashew chicken and cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. It was so good. He got to stop by for about an hour on his break from work. They had me up walking today. It is a pain. Ethan got his circumcision today so all he wants to do is sleep and I try t wake him up but he isn't going for it. John got a lady from day care to take JR home after school because he had to work all day. She says he was really good. I will be glad to be able to go home tomorrow. I really need to get organized so I can take pictures and keep things updated.

Wednesday 4/1/09

Ok, even with the sleeping pill I couldn't sleep very well. They had me up at 530am any way to get ready for the c-section. Doctor comes in at 7am and says just to tell the baby he was born on April 2, yeah right. I had my epidermal and started to surgery around 730am. After he was born the doctor asked what was his weight and they said 4lb 15 oz. Wow that is even smaller than they thought. But his Apgar was 9/10 so that was great. I thought he would go to the NICU because of his weight but the NICU team said they were leaving because he was doing good. While I was in surgery I did get my tubes tied so no more kids for me and John. This is it.
I then went to recovery for a couple of hours, don't remember much about that. I then went to a room and they brought the baby in. He s so little but he will get to go home when I do. His blood sugar is good and he is feeding good. I am going to try and just breast feed, we will see how that goes. I am so hungry but even the ice chips are making me sick. It is the "good" medicine they put in my epidural before they took it out. It will keep me pain free for 24 hours. That is a good thing.
Today was John's day off but he had to go pick up the kids and he brought them back to see me but they didn't stay very long because I was very tired and sick to my stomach. I will be glad when I can eat.
I finally started keeping the ice down around 3 in the morning so I got to eat graham crackers and pudding, yum. At least I don't have to take my insulin anymore. I cant wait for breakfast. You know you are hungry when you are looking forward to hospital food.

Tuesday 3/31/09

John called me at school this morning to tell me that his sister had her baby today. He has red hair. Not that there is anything wrong with red hair but Joey is the only one in the family that has red hair and I have been trying to get rid of him forever. It would be just my luck that my baby will have red hair and be born on April Fools Day.
Today I got to leave school early because I had appointments. Yeah, it is almost over.
First I had to go pick up John. He likes it when I have appointments because he gets out of work early.
We went to the diabetes doctor. My blood hasn't been too bad. I sure will be glad when I don't have to check it 7 times a day and take 4 shots. She did an ultrasound and said the baby was about 5 1/2 pounds, which is small because I am due in 3 weeks. She says it would probably be best if we have the baby before next week. Then I had a Non-Stress Test. While I was hooked to the monitor the heart beat went down and I told John we might be having a baby today. Wouldn't that be strange me and his sister having our baby's on the same day. Well the nurse said they called my OB because of the heart rate. She said that it is something that happens and if I wouldn't have been on the monitor we never would have known but since I was they just couldn't ignore it. My OB wanted me to go to the hospital to get monitored.
So we left and went to pick up JR. We had to call a friend to have her watch JR and Cassandra.
We got to the hospital and the nurse said " Oh are you the c section for tomorrow" OMG, I hope not. So they get me all settled in and they say that since it is late 7p my OB will do the c section in the morning. Just my luck. He says I can tell my baby he was born on the 2nd. Yeah, right. So around 10p they give me an Ambian and that was it for the night.

Monday 3/30/09

Joey got out of the hospital tonight. We had his things ready for him to go and John took him to his new home, the motel. Of course the first thing he did was go buy beer, cant even give it a day.
I am ready to get moved into the room with the air conditioner and get JR his own room. I know he will like it. I will like having my TV back.

Sunday 3/29/09

Cassandra let me know that Joey is suppose to be out tomorrow. He was going to leave today but he went to the hospital for his asthma and they are going to admit him so he wont be out today. I know he did it on purpose, just kidding. Of course he wont let the asthma keep him from drinking.

Friday 3/27/09

Went to the OB today. Everything is good and set for the 13th. I cant wait.
Joey should be out this week and then we can get JR into his own room. I think he will like it. I will like it because we are going to move into the room with the air conditioner. I love to sleep when it is hot.
John's sister is due on April 1st. I don't think I would want to have my baby on the 1st(this turns out to be ironic).
Only a few more weeks at school too. I cant wait for the break but I really cant wait to start working afterwards. I need to figure out where I want to work. I don't think I want to work in a pedi office because I don't want to have to give kids shots all day. I will have to think about it.
