Wednesday 4/1/09

Ok, even with the sleeping pill I couldn't sleep very well. They had me up at 530am any way to get ready for the c-section. Doctor comes in at 7am and says just to tell the baby he was born on April 2, yeah right. I had my epidermal and started to surgery around 730am. After he was born the doctor asked what was his weight and they said 4lb 15 oz. Wow that is even smaller than they thought. But his Apgar was 9/10 so that was great. I thought he would go to the NICU because of his weight but the NICU team said they were leaving because he was doing good. While I was in surgery I did get my tubes tied so no more kids for me and John. This is it.
I then went to recovery for a couple of hours, don't remember much about that. I then went to a room and they brought the baby in. He s so little but he will get to go home when I do. His blood sugar is good and he is feeding good. I am going to try and just breast feed, we will see how that goes. I am so hungry but even the ice chips are making me sick. It is the "good" medicine they put in my epidural before they took it out. It will keep me pain free for 24 hours. That is a good thing.
Today was John's day off but he had to go pick up the kids and he brought them back to see me but they didn't stay very long because I was very tired and sick to my stomach. I will be glad when I can eat.
I finally started keeping the ice down around 3 in the morning so I got to eat graham crackers and pudding, yum. At least I don't have to take my insulin anymore. I cant wait for breakfast. You know you are hungry when you are looking forward to hospital food.
